We were in a tent waiting for dawn to fall on us, and when the sunrised, he serendaded me with a song he wrote, and said a brief speech that made me teary eyed, pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him...
I wish...
When ever people say "engage" they automatically think of a pretty diamond ring and a beautiful bouquet of flowers and the promise to a wedding and marriage. Think about the ordeal of planning the perfect wedding, whether it be an elaborate event-of-the-year or an intimate get-together. How many think of the deeper semantics of the word "engage"?
"Engage", as I interpret, is a commitment and devotion to something. Engage in a the love of your spouse, your family, your friends, engage in a meaningful career, volunteer work, soul searching, engage in a healthy lifestyle, in arts, engage in the pursuit of scientific or medical discoveries. Be committed and devoted to the things you love and are meaningful to you, and cherish it as if your life depends on it.
When you are engaged in a fulfilling life, it doesn't really matter if you have that diamond ring. Sharing a tent with a soul mate watching the sunrise can still be accompanied with pretty wildflowers and joy. Add in nice music, good food and a nice conversation and voila! Carpe diem!!! The love and joy of life!!
Let's get Engaged!!!
