I have to say, I quite liked the movie, even though it turned out almost exactly how I thought it would be. The rocker falls for the cellist, her family gets into a car crash and they all die except her, and she needs to figure out if she wants to stay and live. And as I would assume for a two part story to keep going, she lives.
Although the plot was prosaic, the way it was produced wasn't quite. I don't know if the narration in the book was like the movie with all the intervals of flashbacks, but it worked very well. If it wasn't done that way, I don't think it would have been as great as narration it was. The music was quite nice, although I didn't quite like the rocker music too much, bit of hasty work there. The capturing of Chloe playing the cello was quite some special effects there, I almost believed it if I didn't IMDB and find out if she actually played the cello.
That having said, I think it sets an interesting background for a sequel that I will read.
